Road Atlanta April 24-26, 2015 the first ever invasion of V8 Miatas at Mitty!
Just made my favorite phone call of the year, the call to put insurance back in the Miata
I just have to finish up the alignment tonight and I hope to drive her to work tomorrow.
And I just checked the forecast and it shows sunny and 80 for 4/24 in Atlanta!

I drove it for the first time in nearly 5 months today. After folding myself in the thing (banging my head on the top and feeling like I gained 20 lbs and 20 years and since the last time I got in it) I thought there is nothing fun or comfortable about this what the hell am I thinking to drive it 3000 miles over 6 days!
I have had some personal issues come up and I am not going to be able to go to the Mitty. I have two full weekend tickets, an infield parking/camping pass and a car corral pass. I think all of it was $140 or $150.
If one of you V8 Miata brothers is in need, I will sell them for $100 and I will priority mail them to you. If you live in central NC, I may deliver them for a good cigar or a bottle of Maker's Mark.
Let me know guys. I don't want them to go to waste.

It's all part of the adventure of road tripping to me and weather wouldn't change my plans any. Sure it would not be as much fun if it rains but no less memorable. Actually things like this are usually more memorable when they don't go as planned and hanging out with you guys in the nearest watering hole all day would still be worth the trip. Besides when my car is wet and dirty the body work looks so much better!
I'm booked in at the country inn but not sure I will stay there. Depends on what my son ends up doing and the way the last 10 days has gone it's anyone guess!
Truth to be told the only hesitation I have felt in this deal is ending up between to epic cars like most of you have and looking ridiculous. I figure I'll get there early and leave late and pretend I have no idea whose wreck that thing is...

Jim - You got the right attitude. Some random rain showers, if we even have that, won't kill this big-time event. Georgia has had a week of rain and clouds, according to a friend of mine. Hopefully, sun and blue skies will show up and stick around for 3-4 days of The Mitty!
Countdown begins soon, doesn't it?

Well the problem is I posted this on a dozen sites and FM spread the word around too. I tried to drive everyone here to get on the list but I'm sure there are several cars that will be there that are not on it. On the flip side there are a couple guys on our list that have not been on the site for months so no way to know. Should we start a car count pool? I'm in at 25!
Is everyone wanting to post their routes? We could even make a google map of all the routes along the way. May be helpful for anyone needing a hand. We are coming down in my fathers Challenger with a handful or tools, I'm sure others have a similar plan. Just a thought.
we haven't decided on either of our two routes, yet. Leaving on wed or thursday morning.

Right now the weather is changing every 5 hrs , I have checked 6 different forecasts and they are all a little different ? Very confusing ....lol
Did not know it was that difficult to forcast the weather .....
As I have a 15 hr drive to get to track it would be nice to know what the weather will be ......😱😱

That's because it's barely an educated guess at this stage of the game. Some places are much more difficult to predict weather than others and we probably won't know till Friday with much accuracy what Saturday will be like. Just pick the best of the 6 and go with it!
Usually on a deal like this I wake up in the middle of the night and lay there till I can't stand it then roll. So if I leave before 4 am I'll just go through St Louis before rush hour. If not I'll go around but Google maps doesn't point me the way I'd go.

I like your approach Jim......just look out the window ...😁
