At first I thought this was an April fools joke but it keeps popping up so it must not be. Looks like they are going to let folks do some tire testing on the track. Experience GT Radial Tires | News |

I got my tickets, Jim If I was home I'd help you out for sure! If you need a hand the 3 days prior to the trip, I could offer some assistance. I'm pretty scary when motivated and armed with a wrench! At least if you are a car.

Found out some very cool VIPs are going to be there, including an automotive writer I'm excited to meet.

Nice to see there's a lot of locals in the FL/GA area, looking forward to some good food/brew. I have been to Sweetwater brewing, Mary Mac's, and a few other cool places, but I'm sure there's plenty more for ATL to offer.

Cheers!

LOL that would be fun! I'm not worried about getting the trans and cooling system back together in time it's the unknowns from the trip in the ditch that concern me. I haven't driven it since then and it was twisted hard enough I couldn't get the trunk open when I was in the ditch. I don't think anything is bent or messed up from it but I really have no idea if there is unseen issues or not.

Well I always said if the roadkill guys were to build a V8 Miata it would be my car so I'll probably tighten the last bolt 5 minutes before I leave!

Jim!!!! You just gotta get your V8M back on the road and cross that GA state line at 80 mph in a few weeks. Didn't remember that you had an "incident" with a ditch - I hope you find zero issues as you button it up. We're all rooting for ya now.

Well, in the grand scheme of things - I see two positives with that pic. 1. Nobody got hurt. And 2. It really is a great photo you took! Car looks kick @ss.

I did that jim, except for the whole road/ditch was covered in snow and you couldn't tell. Also, mine was off a bridge. Had to get pulled out by a tractor.

Fun times in MN/ND!

Yes, I'm looking forward to that THURS morning for heading down I-85 S myself... Wifey says the brown truck dropped off my tire/wheel today. Found a darn nail in rear, inside sidewall the other week and can't afford to be bothered looking for a 225 tire in Gainesville GA that Saturday should it completely fail on me! Oil change, new gasket and block-off plate for the LS, check diff and tranny levels, tighten random bolts to see what I can find out of tolerance, and have Advance Auto test my yr-old 650 CCA battery to see if it's dying on me..? Hope it's the battery that's gotten weak and not a starter issue for me.

So Jim, do you think 20 V8R's will show up that wknd? Hope so. Hope it's more, actually!

It sounds like that 20 number is going to be pretty solid. I'm pretty stoked. We should have easily over 7000hp, if that's the case. Cool

I am lucky to have the wife I do. I spun my Jag on turn 7 at VIR with her in it and she didn't hit me. I made a joke about spinning out at Road Atlanta in the Miata and she said "Have a ball as long as we don't hit anything." I love that woman....

Ugh. My CV joint decided to quite during a time attack event yesterday. Trying to figure out if its something I can get fixed locally or get a repalcement for. But I'm determined to get it straightened out in time!

Which axles? May check with FFR, I'm using their axles, at the very least you may be able to use parts from one. They ship out really quick.

Factory Five Racing =FFR, sorry. Getrag, no joy! The ones I mentioned are for 8.8 fords. Sorry to hear. On the other hand, a good local axle shop should have no problem getting it done. My place can usually do a 2-3 day turn around if its easy enough. Did it blow apart, or is it just clicking badly?

Since we brought up the subject of a V8 meet, leading to this thread. Thought it be fitting to briefly explain why we won't be there. Earlier this month our family had to pool together a large amount of money in order to pay for a medical emergency. Really don't want to get into specifics other than to say that it will take a few months for the financial hit to balance out. So, we simply can't justify the cost of the trip.

Have a great time & we hope that there will be future opportunities to meet.

Sorry to hear you're not able to make The Mitty... Was looking forward to seeing your hard work and finished build!! Family does come first, so there's no argument there. Wish the timing would've been more in your favor.
I'm sure we'll get plenty of pics posted up for your viewing pleasure!

I plan on purchasing tickets at the "window" on Friday, 4/24/15. Anyone know if that is a problem?

We plan on arriving around 10:30 AM or so...

If anyone thinks they can predict the weather in ATL 2 weeks in advance, they must be smoking crack. They can't seem to get it right 48 hours in advance most of the time!

No problem at all except it will cost you an additional $15.00 for parking.
