I would strongly suggest that you look into a tubular subframe. Flyin Miata sells one for $750 or PM cvx_20 as he has some he has started to build ( I have one of his). The tubular subframes have tons more room for header clearance, For example I am using Ford Racing "hot Rod" headers, simular to the Speedway Ford Hot Rod headers.
