WTB reliable, clean V8 Miata

Realize I won't race again, at my age (76) I no longer trust my judgement. Don't want a raced car either.

Seek something with more kick than my M6 to drive on pretty days. Doubt 300hp will do it, prefer 450 or more but if necess I can add power.

Also want comforts if available. And not something that requires a mechanic daily.

Am willing to pay whatever is a reasonable price for what I am getting, not limited. Maybe $14k for something that needs more power, or $35k for my perfect car. Or less. Or more.

Am considering going to ATL in April but not sure yet.

have you considered having Flyin Miata build you one? Sounds like that would be a good choice for you with your budget/needs

See my post in the classified. Fly over, drive it home with ease.

Agree, if you're willing to spend around $35k, I would highly consider Flying miata to personally build you one, thats right around their budget. You'll have everything, you're looking for.

$42k for turnkey w/o upgrades you providing the car. It was a near $60k deal the way I spec'd it out when I was looking (I was going to buy a MSM to convert).

You probably won't believe this but just this morning on the way to work I thought I wish I could build another car without having to bank roll it and spent the better part of an hour trying to figure out how to do just that. I pondered Mr Mustangs 6 builds and Jasons 4 builds they built and sold and thought why can't I do that? If for no other reason I have a long list of "if I was going to do it again" lessons to put to good use and it would be fun to be able to afford to do it right for a change.

So I considered doing a thunderbolt level build just to build it and sell it and quickly decided it would be better turn the equation around and build exactly what someone wants instead what I think is the right car. 4 hours later I open up V8miata.net and here is this post.

I don't know if it's a good fit but being a man of faith I have no doubt the thought that passed through my mind about doing another build this AM followed by someone looking for the perfect build that doesn't want to do it himself is no coincidence. Even if nothing more ever comes of it what a delight to see God moving even in silly things like V8 Miatas!

What a magnificent day!

Yep, Custom built would be pricey

I will not be putting many miles on it, not willing to pay $50k+ for a garage queen.

Guess I will be waiting and watching for something good to float by.

For now, the Cars for Sale is a bit confusing. Not sure what is available or where.

V8 Roadsters can build you exactly what you want. They took a little hiatus from turn key builds while they did development on the LFX V6 conversion and RX8 conversions and a bunch of other stuff- soon to be announced- but have expanded their operation with a dedicated build facility in Daytona Beach. Give them a call. Contact info is on their website. Also, the build section of the website is about to be revamped with build prices, scheduling and all that stuff. $35K will get you a darn nice build!

About the time this was first posted, Nadine was up on eBay... A Dr. from New Orleans picked her up for $15,100 plus fees. Now he has to have her shipped fro Ohio to NOLA. I have been invited to go visit ad show the new owner some of the things I did to build her.
Looks like I have a working vacation coming! LOL

Enjoy your vacation.

At the time I posted, there was plenty static which I had no desire to fight thru. Life is too short to deal with issues like that. If I had been sure all was straight I mighta proposed to Nadine.

Damn Chris you and that car continue to live a charmed life! You're going to have a blast down in Gods country with your old friend.

Say you should propose that he fly you to Ohio on the 22nd and drive her down with a weekend stop at Mitty... :D

Meierznutz 04-07-2015 05:00 PM

That would be very nice Jim. There are just two things stopping me... I have a lawn business to run and things are starting to gear up now that the snow has melted (This week anyway) and if anything, God forbid, should happen to the car in route... I can't afford to replace it! If I had not spent all my money on Natalie I would have bought Nadine back in a second.
Psybj: I don't know what all that was about...still don't quite get it really but the good news is she is going to a real Gentleman. I spent more than a few hours talking to him before he made any bids on the car. I was glad that he won the final bid and it is going to a good home. Sadly he will be removing the canvas soft top in favor of a hard top that will be painted to match the upper color. He also plans to have the decals removed. Unfortunately they were only available for that year of FBR so they will be lost. Maybe I can talk him into leaving the one with my Rosa's picture (the child they assigned us) but I understand his reasoning. I never did like bumper stickers and such but that set had real meaning.
If you are still looking for a car might I suggest that you think about contracting with one of the members here to build one for you. More than one of us has built multiple cars and if you start with a rust free, un-hit, clean shell then the only limit is your checkbook. A 5.3L LS with 6 speed and CTSV rear with a stock to mild tune would be a hell of a lot of fun and lots less than what FM charges. Sorry for the long post...best of luck with the search!
