WTB: NA or NB Miata Shell / Roller

WTB: Clean Miata shell NA or NB. I'm in colorado (willing to drive 400-500 miles for the right one) - looking for something clean for my next project. Doesn't need to run or have an engine, trans. I just need a solid roller. Have cash ready to go for the right shell/ roller!
Thanks all,
Kevin

Check with this guy, he may be able to hook you up, and just up the road from you too

Awesome I just emailed the guy! Thanks!

Kevin S. 02-23-2016 01:04 PM

Dang he is not selling the chassis only parts. He wants the chassis for his new engine swap lol

577nitro 02-23-2016 02:03 PM

I saw one a week ago in Denver in the "cars for sale" that was only $1000, might take less if not sold...you could use some of the others parts for spares

Was it black ? I think it sold...

577nitro 02-23-2016 02:37 PM

yes, an NA, but looked complete....if the ad is still there, it may still be there.

Kevin S. 02-23-2016 02:40 PM

Nope! it's no longer on there. I was looking at that one to buy last week! Should have jumped on it apparently !

577nitro 02-23-2016 03:08 PM

Keep looking, ones like that one do show up a lot..people find the work to put it back on the road is too much, but for a swap its ok

Kevin S. 02-23-2016 05:03 PM

Yeah...keeping my eyes peeled! If anyone sees anything there is some beer and or donuts in it for ya!

mrmustang 02-24-2016 06:18 AM

Kevin S. 02-24-2016 10:25 AM

Kevin S. 03-07-2016 10:56 AM

Still looking...if anyone knows of a clean na or nb Miata shell please let me know! Thank you.

Club roadster too and there must be a local Miata club or 2 out there. It won't take long to find a good car.

I noticed this gem today:

1990 Mazda Miata

Kevin S. 03-10-2016 10:24 AM

Man that is pretty much exactly what I'm looking for! Now I just need to figure out how the heck to get it to me lol

Kevin S. 03-10-2016 11:04 AM

Dang! So I talked to the guy and it seems like exactly what I want. He seems like a great guy that is willing to even help with transport back to Denver! With that said he does not have the title...

Not sure if I wanna deal with the headaches associated with that. Been down that road before. The search continues...

Kevin S. 03-15-2016 11:07 AM

Man this is turning out to be harder than I originally imagined. Finding a clean title na or nb Miata is tough (at least in my area)

I 'settled' for a car with a reconstructed title because of that exact issue. My car is in great shape and completely rust free. I was 'reconstructing' the car anyway so it didn't bother me. I would want to know more about why the car has a title defect however- mine was totaled when it rolled backwards into a tree after the previous owner forgot to set the e-brake and the repair work was well done.

Just be patient. If you don't get exactly what you want you will either spend more money making it that way, or you'll wish you had waited. I looked for my car for 5 months before pulling the trigger, but it was definitely worth it.

charchri4 03-19-2016 09:35 PM

This ^. You are looking for a very narrow market car in a model that is not exactly in everyones garage. It may take you a few months to find what you want but this is not the time to cut corners. The conversion cost is the same whether you start with a clean straight car or a rusty beat up one but there is no question it will be easier and a heck of a lot nicer when it's done if you start with a good car.

I'm not following why you want to start with a no drive train car though. That is so limiting. I would look for that but also a running automatic car. Autos are usually not owned by enthusiasts so they are not beat on and tend to be garage queens. The drive trains are different enough they bring very good money to sell.
