Default where do I plug the EGR to???

God - I feel so embarrassed to have to ask this, but, Ford 5.0 EFI, the EGR system was removed from the engine when I bought it... it seems it's such a silly question that no one has ever bothered writing about it.

I've found every diagram in the world that shows vacuum and all the components, That's cool! BUT - none show where exhaust comes from to the EGR valve... I hear it's a port on the intake manifold?? I see a plug in the driver side rear corner? but all the pictures i seen that port has been plugged...

can one of you kind people tell me where the tube that would come of the egr valve connects to exhaust?

further more i cannot seem to find this part anywhere... Can i just buy a generic EGR tube?

Thanks!

Gabe.

EGR is internal unless you are using the SN95 engine. EGR valve attaches to the rear of the EGR spacer (between the TB and the upper manifold) and is actuated via vacuum by the EGR vacuum solenoid which is usually mounted on the firewall. Vacuum goes from upper manifold or vacuum T to the solenoid then another line from the solenoid to the valve itself.
Coolant runs through the EGR spacer from the heater tube nipples. It's self explanatory when you give it a look.

Brad - thanks for the quick answer - but that's actually all the stuff i already knew! lol

I have ordered a used spacer with egr valve, and sensor.. and i ordered the solenoid...

what i do not understand at this point... is how the exhaust gets to the egr valve???

Keep in mind i have yet to HOLD these components in my hands and look at them, i have only seen pictures...

are you suggesting that the exhaust gas somehow comes up through a port in the upper intake manifold and into the spacer, to be sent back into the intake?

i thought i had to somehow hook up a tube from the headers to the EGR valve... am I insane?

googled Internal EGR! LOL... I suppose if i would have waited till i seen the valve I would have clued in... well now i know that's what that center hole between the upper and lower intake manifold is.... and hooking up the EGR will just be that much easier.

Thanks!

You got it. Yes, it's a little confusing at first dealing with an unfamiliar and incomplete engine. Been there, done that.
