I've been working the last few months on a "stage 2" version of my Ford V8 conversion harness and want to run the idea by the five or six people I know of of this forum who purchased my current version.

Here's the specific changes that I would make to what I already do:
-It would have the Main harness, the O2 sensor harness, the Fuel injection harness, the Canister Purge harness, the transmission (VSS) harness and the Fuel pump relay harness integrated together into one complete end-to-end harness so that you would only need one harness to run everything on the car. All I would take as a core would be the main harness as I do now; during the conversion process I would add the rest of the plugs and wires to it. This would eliminate the need for builders to find or fabricate the other 4 harnesses they need currently to completely create the original Ford system in their cars. This would also eliminate the notorious "Salt and pepper shaker" connectors that connect the injection harness to the main harness. These connectors are notorious for causing erratic problems in Mustangs.

-The O2 sensor leads would be run down the shifter hole with the VSS wires to eliminate the need to run them near the passenger side header in the engine bay. They would terminate in a right and left O2 sensor plug instead of the O2 sensor harness plug like they do now.

-The portion of the harness from the firewall grommet to the ECU would be extended by about 3 feet so that the ECU can be placed behind the passenger seat as it is in 1994-1997 Miatas. This will take it out of the footwell where I think heat from the headers may be affecting it.

-Everything that does not interface with a Miata wire would end in the appropriate accessory plug; nothing would have to be sourced other than the ECU and the sensors.

-All relays (fuel and main) would be NEW, not reused.

-The harness would be built to have the TFI module relocated to the fender.

I'm planning on offering this for around $399-$449 + core charge, so about twice what I charge now for a converted main harness only. I figure the injection harnesses go for about $100 on ebay and the other two can easily cost the same together so it comes out to about what builders and spending to build the harnesses up now anyhow. The elimination of the connections between the harnesses will eliminate potential failure points, clean up the engine bays, give more room in the very-tight intake-to-firewall area of Ford builds giving more access to fuel rails and adjustable regulators.

For those who have the other harnesses or don't want to spend that amount I would still offer the service I do now for $225 + core ($25 price increase to cover the price of two new relays and a new VSS plug).

So my question to those who have purcased my harness is:

-If I had offered this product when you purchased your harness would you have gone with the extra $199 to $249 to have this done? BTW, if anyone is interested in "upgrading" a harness I have built I'll work out a special core exchange rate.

I know that personaly, I would be money ahead putting in a few extra days at work (at least there i know what I'm doing) to cover the cost of your harness rather than trying to do it myself. If i needed one I'd likely buy it.

I realize that not currently being a customer of yours talk is cheap, but I hope you do well with it and all your products.

Thanks! I appreciate any feedback, especially from a potential customer. I've currently two customer harnesses that I'm working on but when they are done I'm jumping into actually building a prototype of this harness. Once a prototype is made up I'll pull the harnesses from my current V8 and install the prototype so I can make another installation manual and test it (maybe with a new MegaSquirt II...). I'm really expecting it will make for a much more uncluttered and better organized engine bay as well as simplify installation.
