Not trying to re-invent the wheel, bad pun intended
 

I am hoping for some experienced V8 owners to pass along their guidance on tire/wheel selection. This is the one part of the project that I don't feel like I have a solid plan for. I have had some experience as a Lotus owner in dealing with high power lightweight cars on fairly narrow tires but the V8 Miata takes it to a new extreme.
Here are my parameters:
Fun use only in good weather, not a daily commuter
Driven in rain only if caught in it by accident
As much grip as possible
Short lifespan (as low as 5k miles or so) is OK
Useful grip down to 50F if possible (I have a ZL1 that was undrivable below the mid 60's on the stock tires, not looking to repeat that)
OK with fender rolling, flares, etc.

What tire/wheel combo are you running on your V8 that comes close to this profile?

I'm running 15x9 6ULs with Toyo R1Rs. It was a "package" that Flyin MIata sold about 2-3 years ago, so you'd pick the wheel and tires and they'd send them to you mounted and balanced, and it was reasonable vs buying them separately and having a shop mount and balance.

R1Rs are not supposed to be used below freezing, or 15F something like that, so I run something else for the winter where I live. Grip is fine into the 50s temp wise. They are fine in the rain, have worn well considering the track days I've done. I rolled fenders on my NB, but I'm not sure I needed to. I'd probably still roll them anyway.

I second the R1Rs, have 225s on my 5.0 Miata, and they actually grip pretty well.
