Default Jim, Great build video

Really enjoyed the vid but made my head hurt knowing all the work that went into building your ride. Kept stopping the vid to understand what you were doing at each phase. I believe my decision to purchase was a good one after seeing this. I have utmost respect for you and the others here who have done their own builds.. God must have given you all patience to keep on keeping on with the build..

Ha yeah that is the funny part. On the one hand it is a huge undertaking and you'd have to be nuts to do it. On the other hand if I can do it with basic hand tools and a borrowed welder in tiny garage than anyone can!

Thanks Chuck I'm delighted you enjoyed it!

Hey Jim - Your slide show & soundtrack were a lot of fun. People curious about such a swap will get a kick out of this and see the whole process condensed down to 6 min! Thanks for sharing.

Jim, I love the paint job and hood scoop. What do you think of the 15x9 TR wheels? I have a set of the 15x8 et20 TR wheels and am pretty happy with them but could always use more grip. I think I need to move to a 9" to get the most out of 225 Nittos I have for the track. Does the extra stretch seem to translate to more grip?

Yeah I really like the 15x9s but would go wider yet if I could get tires. I like the 9s because they are wide and the right offset for the car. From what I understand +36 is ideal as the car is designed for that, +25 is OK and beyond +20 messes up the scrub radius to the point of being noticeable.

As for tires I read a couple of tests on tires that said you are better off to have a bit wider wheel then the tire face rather than the other way around. But the difference the stretch makes is like .6 per lap so I'd rather fill up the wheels myself. Love to have 255/40s or so on the 9s but yeah 285/30s on 10 would slip right in there too...

This is OK

But this is better!
