Ok so I've been working on my v8 swap for about two months now and just getting the last couple of things to finish my project. I need a t56 tranny and I was talking to a guy and he said the corvette tranny's won't work is that true. The engine is a ls1 out of a 98 corvette.

What! 2 months in and no build thread! I'm tempted to let you figure it out for yourself then! But OK no the corvette trans is part of the rear end and though I have thought for years it would be a great way to go it will not bolt up to the engine like you want it to. F body T56s are easy to find just not cheap...

So will the bell housing for the Camaros line up with the vette engine?

Camaro bellhousing will fit your motor. I'm running an f-body bellhousing on the LS6 out of a 'vette Z06.

Yes! Find a complete drop out trans from an F body and you will be good to go. If you don't know about LS1tech.com check them out. There are usually guys over there looking to convert to automatics that have the whole t56 shabang to sell.
