Mopar Kits?
Hello to all. I am very interested in building one of these Miatas. Does anyone know whether kits are available for using a Dodge truck 4.7 powerplant? I have access to one of these at a very reasonable cost - engine and auto tranny are good, but body is pretty much trash.
Thanks, Woody |
Woody, the quick answer is no. I'm in the Mopar crowd with an extra 1970 stock 340 in the shop that I'd love to use. However it'd be a all custom fab project with an engine that makes great old school power, it's just wide and heavy when compared to the LS and little Ford engines.
I honestly don't know the details on a 4.7, might not be to hard to do.....if you are a great fabricator with a well equipped shop (welder, torch, lift, kind of equipped). The engine is by far the cheapest part of the build. Much better to go with a proven, supported power package. Good luck, RR |
5.0MX5,
Thanks for the info. I don't have a shop so well-equipped, so I will continue to plan toward either oval or bowtie power. Woody |
