Traction Control System??
I came across this V8 Miata for sale on Craigslist.. and the price is stupid low, but it is in St. Croix.... However, there was something about the ad that dumbfounded me, if even true.
It claims to have a Traction Control system.. and uses a Ford 8.8?? V8 Ls1 Miata I have not heard of any V8 Miatas with Traction Control. |
There's a few possibilities of traction control.
Using a standalone engine controller with traction control capability. I will be using MS3pro on my LS1 Miata, and will have traction control. I'll have a rotary potentiometer knob that will allow the driver to vary the allowable slip. There are standalone traction control systems, such as Racelogic. They tie into the spark or fuel outputs, and reference wheel speed sensors to know how many cylinders to retard or cut off. |
True, didn't think of that. I had traction control as an option with my MS on the turbo Miata.

I'll definitely post updates when I get the Miata running on how well the traction control works. I've seen a lot of feedback from the drag racing guys with Megasquirt traction control, it seems to work great when combining the 2-step launch control, timing retard after launch, and traction control. I'm interested to see how well it works in a road race style situation and how well it can keep the car under control.

In the spirit of Forum Brotherhood, I'll be glad to book transportation to the Virgin Islands and check it out. Afterall, it's priced cheap enough to cover expenses.....let me know:)

There was a turbo LS NC that used traction control via Holley Dominator engine management. HBwiggins is the user name. The car runs 9.7x.

I'm going to build my own traction control to integrate with my GMPP engine controller.
