Martin kit: Donor axle help!

I ordered a set of replacement axles for a 90 Ford Tbird 3.8 (Suretrack 8082). Started to do the changeover, and it turns out the Tripod is too large for the Martin axles (I did not try the cv joint as I stopped here). The OD of the CV is 3.5" and the inner splines fit right in the diff and the outers fit right in the hubs, so these appear to be the right replacements, but the axle shafts appear to be larger in diameter than stock. Anyone else run in to this? Can anyone recommend axle part number that they know will work as I am stuck with these and they will not.

Thanks,

Jason

I have never heard of anyones axles not working with Martins shafts. I suggest you call Martin and be sure you have the right donor shafts. I bet you don't...

Yeah, it appears I got bit by the Rockauto catalog. The axles that I purchased came up as being for a 3.8 NA Tbird, but are actually for a Tbird with a 8.8 rear. I ironically they have 3.5" outer CVs so they passed that test. I will be selling them on ebay as I cannot return them based on the amount of time it has been. If you know anyone who needs a set of 8.8 axles, send them my way. Correct axles are on the way (or at least they should be the correct ones).

Thanks,

Jason

Martins shafts are the same whether you run 8.8 or 7.5 so they still should fit on the shaft.

He told me I needed 7.5 donor axles, 8.8 would not work. The tripod slid the whole way down the replacement axle shaft. I should get the guaranteed 7.5 axles for this weekend. Hope to confirm they work soon.
