Clutch bleeding mystery

I have a Miata with Trans-AM LS1/T56. A bleeder line has been installed to the clutch slave cylinder inside the bell housing. I need to double-clutch to downshift to first and second gear at speed. Therefore I tried bleeding the clutch. This is where the mystery starts:
We pump the pedal a few times and hold it down. We then open the valve at the end of the bleeder line, get a little oil out, close the valve, and let the pedal up. After doing this there is no function in the clutch hydraulics; it feels like we have no oil in the system. We leave the car for a little time, and now have pressure as it was before attempting bleeding. This has been repeated multiple times. I have also tried bleeding using a pressure bleeder on the Wilwood clutch master cylinder but got no oil out through the bleeder line. I am totally baffled.
- How can a system under pressure let air in?
- Is the bleeder line hooked up incorrectly?
- Has a self-bleeding clutch been invented on my car?
Advice and ideas would be welcomed....

Maybe check to make sure that the master cylinder push rod length is adjusted correctly. If its too long, it can keep the piston in the master cylinder from fully retracting when the clutch pedal is released, which could cause these types of issues.

Tks. I will definitely check this, and provide feedback.
