7.5 hp rating

does anyone know how much hp and torque can a tbird 7.5 handle stock and can a 3.55 gear work in it or would it be better to stay stock

If you are going to go heavy on hp then go all the way and do an 8.8 rear. Mine has 3.73 gears and a trac-lok....if it can live in a SC Cobra it can handle what I throw at it!

I think that traction would be the weak link in a 7.5 differential. Since a V-8 Miata has no traction, the rear end should hold up fine. The 3.55 gear set will work, but with the Miata's short tires, it makes it more like a 3.73 gear. I have the 3.27 gear in mine, & it is almost at the same rpm at 60mph as my 3.55 geared 1988 Mustang GT.

I'm running 270 rwhp and 306 torque through mine. Others have put them through a lot more abuse than that.
