1st Stupid Question - (yes, there will be more!)

Good Day All:

I am in the planning stages of my Ford V8 conversion. I've ordered the kit from Martin and have sourced out a nice little 347 which should supply 425-450 HP.

My question is, are there any 6 speed options available for a Ford build? From what I can tell most Ford builds use the T5, is that the only one that will fit.

Thanks,
Denis.

Don't be silly there are no bad questions. Just do a quick google search for T56 to Windsor and you will find everything from a $200 ebay special to some pretty high end parts. Guys put T5s behind LS engines too to cut weight.

I'm sure there is it than that and any number of Mustang forums will have info on it.

For what it's worth I love having 6 gears but I doubt it is worth the effort to go through all the messing around to put a 6 speed behind a Windsor block. Just wondering why you want to do it?

Fit isn't the problem, the real problem is the bellhousing. There is no factory stock bell that will marry the two together, so the only solution I could come up with was the Quicktime adapter that is also a scattershield. Pretty pricey, but will do the job. I haven't pursued it any further, I'm sure there are flywheel/clutch/throwout issues to be resolved.

Thanks for the info... After doing some more reading on this forum (which is absolutely priceless by the way) it seems that for all the time, trouble and dollars, it is much more feasible to go with at T5Z.

Thanks again...
