Who builds 5.0 subframes??

I'm trying to get a 5.0 siting in my 95. Anyone on here modify stock subframe or build one from scratch? I'm in Chicago. Thanks!

Monster Miata is the only 5.0 commercial subframe I know of. Some have built there own but as far as buying one he's pretty much the only game in Ford swaps.

CRX_20, Mike is a member here....he makes a very nice subframe MiataV8 Conversion: Tubular Subframe with Ford 302

My choice when I change mine from the modified stocker.

Hopefully he'll chime in since I believe there have been changes.

Subframe

Hi All,

Martin from Monster Miata is building me a custom front subframe that looks amazing. Plenty of space for exhaust to come out the bottom with proper tubes and will also lower the engine in the cradle for more bonnet clearance.

It uses square section steel for the main supports and appears much more heavy duty than the V8R frame.

In addition I am getting it in RHD :)

So you do have options for a custom front ford 5.0 subrame. The options are

1) V8R
2) Crx_20
3) Monster miata

There was another thread that I saw someone cut the standard subframe and then weld it up again...I cant remember the person's tag. A search under the custom fabrication threads should yield a find. He may make one for you too.

Cheers

I got one from Crx_20 (Mike) and it is very well made, using heavy gauge materials, and fit correctly the first time.

This is very good to hear. I'm in the process of planning out my next build and have decided using traditional headers is one of the main goals. I was thinking of sending Martin a bare V8R subframe or welding the mounts on myself. Maybe I'll contact him about what you're having done.

Will be interested to know how this progresses too. Can see me doing another build in the future.

Welcome to the forum! I would assume you found your answer by now but if not start with the FAQs and builder resources and it's pretty much all there for you. CLICK

It does take a little time to sift through because there is a lot to know and consider in building your own frame. The good news is you have lots of well documented DIY sub frame builds that will show you exactly how to do it. Just to name a few:

Hope that helps. Enjoy the journey!
