Anyone Using Spec Miata Suspension ?
 

The V8 I bought has Tokico adjustable shocks and unknown springs and rates. I ran into someone at the track who's been using the SM suspension and likes it. My car is strictly a track car. I also have another Miata that I'll be selling. it's my track car but is street legal. It has a SM suspension. The original suspension that came off of that car is boxed in my garage. Koni Sports with maybe 2000 track miles on them, Eibach front & rear sways & Eibach progressive springs.

My question is:
Do I swap the SM suspension into my V8
or
Do I replace the Tokico's with the Koni's and get better springs and whatever else I may need for the V8, leaving the SM suspension in my other car.

I know this tread is older than the hills but I was just wondering what you ended up doing for suspension.

I just got my build done in Aug and have about 4500 miles on it. My suspension is 750F, 350R Ehibach springs and Bilsteins right off of a SM car. I have not had it on a big track yet but have 4 autocrosses. It is a tad harsh on the street for a date car but overall I really like it. Rides like a race car!

So what are you running and how is it you are doing 40 track days a year and we have no photos or videos anywhere from you??

I left the SM set up in my other car.

Replaced everything in my V8 with:
A Fat Cat set up. Bilstein coilovers with 850F and 475R. Removed the rear sway.
Seems to work for me. But, I've since met with other guys that have the SM set up and they like it. I'm happy with my set up. I'm not very analytical when it comes to this stuff.
I just want to have fun driving on the track. I never time myself. For me driving on the track is no different then any other fun hobby. It's just about having fun. As long as my cars handling feels comfortable I'm good with it. My set up is very neutral. I don't get any pushing or oversteer. For me, the car is set up perfectly.
Mine is not a street car and I sometimes regret converting it to a track only car. It would be nice to every now and then take it for a cruise.

If yours is driven on the street I would advise to not go any stiffer with the set up.

I just noticed your comment about the 40 track days and no video. I have not taken any video in probably 4 or 5 years. And when I did I was using a camcorder with a mini-cassette. The camcorder video quality was actually pretty good. But, I have no clue how to post any of it.
