4-link or torque arm
 

rear suspension ? looked in here and didnt find info,,,im not sure if there in room to set-up a 4 link correctly ,,car will be on the street some but need it to Hook in a straight line so i was looking at torque arm set-ups like Mtang owners are using on track cars. My plan is LS set back,,200r4 trans,,8.8 straight axle(out of a ranger) at first then after the bugs are worked out a 9" ,,,,anybody try this set-up ???

The Mustang and cobra kit car 4 link suspensions use very short arms so they do not control wheel hop like a four link typically found on larger cars with long arms. The Miata would have even more severe length constraints on the 4 link arms. I doubt you will be able to control wheel hop or squat because the arms necessary to do so simply won't fit under the car. A 3 link (torque arm) with a watts link mounted to the diff cover would likely work much better.

Thanks,,thats what it looks like with just a few min. and a tape measure ,,going to look and ask more ,,but in think the upper ans lower bard would be up my butt , or way to short for any travel. I will need this car to Hook to get good consitant ETs

An SLA independent rear will hook very well with the correct springs and sway bar if you locate the roll center at or slightly below the pinion gear in the diff. Otherwise, you have picked the wrong car for drag racing.

its going to be mainly for play,,i want somthing quick enough to scare me LOL i have alot of the power train allready,,going to start with a 4.8 as a "trainer" lol,,,then a 6.0 both NA

I have a 1983 Fox-body Mustang that had horrible wheel hop, even with the stock 150hp V8. I did some research and built a torque-arm and watts-link setup for it and it hooks like crazy with a 245 rwhp engine. If you are interested in launches, I would highly recommend the torque arm. I would suggest that for drag racing, the Watts link is probably more complexity than is needed. A panhard rod will likely suffice. But the car does not stop or turn very well, and so I bought a NB Miata. :-)
