Default Backwoods Ford 4.0 V6 swap

Hey guys! I'll probably be on here asking quite a few questions and in the stickies I have found a lot of encouragement so create a build thread so here it is!

I had a 1991 explorer that had rolled over and I was keeping it for parts for my Bronco 2 but it became my daily driver again. Buddy of mine had too many miatas and needed one gone so I picked up the shell for 175.

Best part about it (and the worst part) is that it's an automatic she'll and the explorer trans is an auto as well!

So since I can not say no to a project or a challenge me and a buddy who is building a turbo miata are seeing who can get our car done first!

So this is not going to be one of those nice pretty smooth well thoughtout builds, this is being slapped together as easily and cheaply as humanly possibly! If I do get it together I am going to build a jig and a custom subframe but for now she is going to be loud, rough, ugly, and hopefully loads of fun! Also kinda hoping this will help motivate me to work on it a little bit every day!

Thanks!
Alex

While that's definitely not a swap I would do, it should be interesting to see it come together! I have a '96 Ranger STX with the same motor.

Ok quick update but first some dumb questions! Where are people hosting pictures to post on forums?

Now updates, hopefully with pics to follow!! Motor mounts are welded in (Jeep leaf spring mounts of some sort a buddy had laying around that were pretty much perfect) Motor is sitting on mounts with trans attached but needs holes drilled/bolted. PPF is attached to trans but definitely needs more support/attachment, THINK I have the wiring figured out, should know by the end of the weekend, and if I can make the oil filter work I'll be test starting this weekend!
