Tall guy wants a Monster!
Hello everyone
6'6" Fox Mustang owner here. I have two spare engines (one short block and one long block) and i've always wanted to build a Monster Miata.
Something about the allure of the "Shelby recipe" and building something like this in my garage. Plus I hear it'll be more economical than a Cobra kit car (that I probably dont fit as well into anyway).
First things first, I need to find a donor and drive it around for a while to ensure i'll be somewhat comfortable in the thing... then it'll be time to go for it!
Lots to learn, just ordered the Monster Miata manual today so I can at least walk before the marathon...
Looking forward to my time here!

Glad you are going to drive a Miata before making any definite plan.
I am 5'-8" and am comfortable driving a Miata but would have a tough time imagining somebody your height being comfortable in my car. My guess is that much over 6' would start being a problem.
On the same note I could not see a 250 lb. person happily driving a Miata.
It is just my opinion and other taller people might disagree.

6' 284 lbs. removable steering wheel helps. Some folks have reworked the seat rails and foam to lower things. I cannot stand driving it for more than 90 minutes straight. Adding cruise should help.

I’m 6’ and 250lbs. Ive got an NB1 and fit in it perfectly with the stock seats. Ill have issues with the roll bar being right behind my head when I put that in though. I plan on putting some racing seats bolted directly to the floor. You can make room for a big guy in a Miata, but it costs money. Ive done hours and hours of research on seats, and for someone 6’+, youre looking at $500-600 minimum per seat. The ones I really want are $800 each. Some Lotus Exige seats would be awesome too. Then you need o ==to do the roll bar, harnesses, steering wheel with no air bag.
