One more step forward towards an lsx swap...

Hey guys, some of you may recognize my screen name from other miata and car related forums.. My name is Ken, and I'm from the Baltimore area, I'm on my second miata at this point, the first was a turboharged 2000 that I reently sold to a guy from chicago so I could pay off some bills and hopefully free up some cash, as I am moving into a new home in December.

The mods list is rather long for my former Miata, but the important stuff is a Turbonetics t3/t4 turbo, Hydra nemesis ECU, and 292 whp. Here are some pics, feel free to ask any questions about the car...

My current Miata is a 1991 base model that only had 16 thousand miles when I purchased it. It currently has nearly 40k on the odometer. It's been a great little car, but I'm itching for more power! Currently, the only mods done to the car are a voodoo shift knob, and an ebay special catback, along with an 8lb flywheel.

This car will be my V8 swap project in the future, I plan on going with an Ls motor, and most likely the V8roadsters swap kit. I plan on accumulating parts over the next year or so, and when I have the car paid off, i'll grab myself a beater and start the swap. It's also possible I might purchase someone elses already swapped car should the opportunity arise, as I don't really have a garage in which to do the swap..

I'm here to learn as much as I can from others experiences, and I'm looking forward to my stay!

Ken

Welcome! A clean low mile donor like that one is a very good starting point. The garage thing may not be a big a deal as you think, I know someone here who built the last half of his car under nothing but a carport!

How big of a difference was it going from a turbo setup to an NA? I don't think I could go back :)

airbrush1 11-29-2009 01:07 PM

I hate it.... my NA is so slow it's ridiulous. I lost around 200hp when I made the switch :(

Welcome, Yet another one of us who has began their journey toward the darker dark side.. Who knew a turbo Miata wouldn't be enough..

What rollbar and offset of wheels did you use?

airbrush1 12-17-2009 06:11 PM

rollbar is a hard dog hardcore dual diagonal

wheels are 16x8 with a zero offset

IMHO, one of the best looking rollbars, expecially the hard-top NB version with a harness bar.
