Hello to the V8miata community. I've done some browsing on the forum for the last couple of months and I'm impressed with how friendly and knowledgeable everyone is. After selling my money pit stage 3 Audi B5 S4, I've been looking for something fun and fast and doesn't cost 50 grand. As soon as I can find a reasonable priced donor car locally, and make a spot in the garage for one. I'm going to pick up probably a gen 2 miata with intent of swapping to a LS engine.

Goal for the project is to be the fastest car on the freeway with maintaining drivability and comfort.

I'm also the owner of a gen 2 mazdaspeed3 and the local community around Seattle is awesome, with a ton of really helpful people.

Anyways If anyone has a suggestion on what I should do; what year car to get, what motor to swap, ext: let me know. And I will keep you updated on my progress.

Thanks for your help ahead of time,

Evan

Welcome Evan! Yes you have indeed come to the right place! Best place to start to do just what you are doing. Research and planning is the key to low stress build. Read every build thread you can find and every manual too. The best build threads I have found are here:

McCully Racing Motors- Our Builds...we're doing our part to help empowering Miatas one car at a time...

Flyin' Miata : Build diaries

There is a couple of current build threads that are happening now in our own build thread section you should check out too.

BTW you can spend 50 grand on one if you want to and it would be a mighty fine car!!...:) I'm hoping to bring mine in under $15K but I am a long way from being done:

If you have any spacific questions please ask. I look forward to seeing what you come up with!!!
