New guy looking for ideas for next toy

Hello everyone, I don't have a miata as of yet but I'm very interested in these v8 monster miatas. I currently have a few toys, one of which being a FFR cobra that I've had for 2 years. I absolutely love the speed and handling out of this beast but I've grown bored of worrying about rain and cold/hot weather ruining my trips, so I'm researching some equally fun/fast alternatives to the cobra. Not really looking to spend more than $20K, can one be built (or just bought) and have a good level of quality for that price?

Thanks for reading and can't wait to get a ton of knowledge from you guys!

I have an ERA 427 Cobra & a v-8 Miata. Come by sometime & check it out. I don't live too far away.

Tbone, what do you think of the miata vs cobra? I was just in canton yesterday playing golf! Damn wish I woulda known! My ffr only has the 302, I'm not sure I could handle the 427 in the twisties. You go out to any of the meets with the ffr guys?

Nothing compares to a big block Cobra. A supercharged V-8 Miata is close though, & it has A/C, a top, windows, p/s, & a radio.

My cobra only has the 302, have you ever driven one? If so, do you think I'll be impressed or disappointed with a v8 miata?

I think you will like it. I plan to have mine at Lost Mountain Park in West Cobb for the Sunday morning cruise-in. Show up & we can take it for a spin.

You could build a very nice Ford conversion for under $20K, maybe even with a blower. Add another $5k or so and you could go the LSx route.

My four Ford V8 builds can be found by following the link in my signature. None of the three has topped $20K in build costs. I've sold the first two for $16K finished and the 3rd one for $23K. My current car is worth more to me than anyone is willing to pay (as far as I know).

Welcome!
