New guy here

Hey guys (and ladies!). I've been a lurker on the outskirts for a while, but finally found it appropriate to actually become a member. I own a '90 NA that I purchased as a playtoy. Autox, DD, something to fool with, etc.

My ultimate goal was to have a mild LSx powerplant, preferably a L33, to build and have as a fun street car. However, the old man that me and my father were renting from for the past 5 years to use his garage decided to double the rent (mainly to run us out so another guy could purchase it for his business). Needless to say, my dream of building my NA has quickly vanished. I was hoping to have it finished by the rod run in Pigeon Forge, TN by this upcoming September, but I doubt that will happen now!

Anyhow, I have a local guy buying my car on Saturday so I can enter the market for a nicely done LS swapped Miata. (: Let me know what you guys have, and thanks for having me here! Your site is very helpful!

Welcome to the forum you have come to the right place for sure! Wow sorry to hear of your loss. Selling our car and all but I guess if it moves you to bigger and better things it may be for the best. Just kind of a weird deal that put you in the market.

L33 is kind of a rare truck engine and would be a long shot big time to find one in a Miata. Bone stock LS1 has more HP and there are zillions of them for donors so that's what most of the builds are. No shame in owning a Ford either they make perfect daily drivers and autox cars. Just have to really hunt and be ready with the $$. It might take to till September to find what you want but you will find it.

Best of luck!

These guys know their poop and you have found the right place. Check out the build threads and you realize that there is a bunch of knowlege here. I started looking about four months ago without "having to have either a Ford or GM". I just wanted to find a good build that was fairly turnkey. I lived on this board and the classifieds and even went back six or eight months to see if anyone still had a car that did not sell. As luck or fate would have it, I found a car 25 miles from me that was a great buy. It had not sold in the classifieds and the builder had decided to keep it but when I called, he started thinking about it. He wanted to build a '68 Chevelle and decided to sell the Miata. A mild ford build and well put together with mostly new parts as he did not have a donor. Have been having a great time when the weather permits. They are out there and right now it is a buyers market. Just look under every rock and you will find what you want. Good luck and either Ford or GM, they are a blast to drive...
