New to this forum, but not to the game........
I figured that since I now own a V-8 Miata, I would take the time to introduce myself to this forum. My name is Dan Lipperini Jr and I an now the owner of the infamous Mongrel Motorsports Miata. It's the car that won the 2003 Grassroots Motorsports Challenge. There have been numerous articles written about the car, but here is one of the magazine pieces that explains how it was built.
Mongrel Motorsports Miata | Articles | I've owned numerous Miatas over the years from stock/modified street cars, to a Honda S2000 powered Miata and several SCCA Spec Miatas. I'm very familiar with the chassis and what these little cars are capable of, but this car should a a new dimension to what I've been used to. I'm unsure what to actually do with the car. Should I leave it as a street legal driver that I can take the wife for ice scream in every once in a while or strip it, install a proper rollcage and make it into a dedicated track toy. I own a race-prep and fabrication shop that specializes in rollcage construction, Welcome to Racelabz, Your S2000 racing source - home of the fastest T3 S2000 Racecars, so modifying the car for track duty is what we do every day. I guess I need to drive the car a bit and see what it's manners are. If its too harsh for street duty, then it will go on a diet and become a track rat. If it is street able and something that I think I can drive without getting pulled over all the time, then maybe it will be fun to piss off the local muscle car guys. Once we thaw-out up here in NEPA I'll decide. Here are some quick pictures from when it came home. V-8 Miata Photos by w650gb500 | Photobucket |
