Nc / nc ls-3
 

Hello,
Thought it was funny that I'm from NC with a NC model Miata... Okay I'm easily amused.
A good friend is building a 06 with a new crate LS-3. The car will be very impressive when done. Best of everything - hand built headers - new SS rear end - so on.. I will be wiring it up starting this weekend. Going to be looking for some help / suggestions. Want a very clean install / hide as many wires as possible.

Welcome to the forum you have come to the right place! Wow that sounds like a heck of a build. You know you don't get help unless you do a build thread right? OK just my way of asking because you would be the first NC build thread and I would really like to see it!

Hey Porshelou! You and your buddy are invited to the V8 Miata gathering at the Mitty in April even if the car isn't done...as long as you bring pictures.

Thanks - we will have to push and have the car done by April! I'll talk to the owner to see if he is okay to take pictures to doc the build. The motor/trans/brakes/rear end are already installed.

I'm just a bit east of you in the Raleigh area with a converted NA-LS2.

For simplified and minimal wiring, I did a complete Mazda wiring diet and reduced the mess down to very little. Of course, the NC may have more computer-controlled items for the a/c, cruise, etc, etc than what I had to deal with.

It may be too late to make your selection of gauges, but I recommend the Speedhut Can-Bus compliant gauges to eliminate a lot more wiring with their simple plug & play as they daisy-chain together and read data off of the OBD II port (with exception of fuel gauge which is easy in itself to wire up).

Still trying to nail down what direction we want to go for gauges. Been talking to Broadfield as an option. Also contemplating using a Motec / AIM dash..

Spent the day yesterday removing the dash. Going to relo the factory fuse box ( looks terrible under the hood) to the glove box area. Thats the harness laying on the ground in the photo. Also working on where to install the LS3 ECU - I'm not going to leave it under the hood - thinking the trunk might work perfectly..

I told the owner we must have it done by April :)
