Looking for Love
Love fast machinery. Am always looking for something else.
Currently my backup fun car is about to be given away in a raffle, don't want to deal with a MiniCooper S any more. Am housing (with use thereof) a '65 Shelby Cobra (continuation) w/ 650hp, one scary beast. It may be leaving in coming months, will still have use of it but will need something to fill the garage space. Gotta kick arse, be fun and reliable. Thinking about getting a V8 Miata, nothing else under consideration. My wife thinks I am more in need of a cure. |
Since you like the Cobra so much, why not get one of those?
|
Welcome...
Issues with the Mini? I had a 09 JCW that I pushed until it started drinking oil. Fun little car that I really enjoyed. Have you thought about the build yet? Which gen model Miata? Bow tie or blue oval? Have you ridden in one yet? My son is graduating LSU this semester. I'll be down there and may be able to talk the wife into packing a smaller bag if you are interested in seeing one in person. |

By too strong I mean just that; floor it at 90mph and the rear wheels break loose. Besides, I want comforts, that beast has none, is simply violence ready to happen. |
I'm pretty sure I would have stopped for all time at the Pantera but I said that about a couple of cars of the years so maybe not. Welcome to the forum!
I'm with tbone on the Cobra. It takes a lot of effort to make a Miata cool but for Cobras it's in the DNA so they just are. |

Prefer to find a good one that somebody else enjoyed if I decide to get one. Am in the deciding phase now, but as a car guy I live in that phase. Is called OBSESSION. No I haven't been in one yet. Been many years since I drove a Miata. Will probably drive one very soon just because. If still interested I will let you know, might drive to you to get a look/ride. (Any excuse to take the M6 on the road) where are you located? |

But I'll be in Breaux Bridge/Lafayette in the next 60 days. Not sure your time table. edit...I think I misread...I'm located north east of Dallas, TX. |
You raise very good points. AC and a folding top are big points for the Miata. Also drawing less attention so you can park it without worrying so much and get in and out of a gas station without the gawkers slowing you down is a +. On the performance side the V8 Miata has no trouble tangling with the Cobra.
On the other hand the Miata has all the sexiness of a lab rat.... |
