New guy from Alabama, been lurking for a few days- great forum you have here.
I've built quite a few cars in my life, so my last pre-retirement present to myself (lol) is a LS Miata. I'm looking for a suitable donor at this time. Spoke with Matt @ FM yesterday; he said NCs were a little easier to swap due to the additional room. He also said swapping a 4L60e would be tough because there's no room for the exhaust to pass. I'm undecided on vintage, but I'd like to keep the fabrication as minimal as possible (though I know I will have to do some). I look forward to learning from everyone here! Kind regards |

I wound up purchasing a 2014 NC Club with 46k gentle miles. I love it- so much that I have no plans to LS swap it at this time; though I'm looking for a suitable turbo kit- very likely Dynotronics (Fab 9 never responded to email or phone). Very impressed with my 2nd Mazda (bought this due to the fit / finish / handling of my wife's CX-5). During my time as an Eng at Mazda/Toyota, it was clear who cared about the customers. Mazda's passion for their product and loyalty to the customers is what all Corporations should be like, imo. Anyhoo, thanks for a fantastic forum! |
Welcome aboard n2xlr8n,
Congrats on getting the NC, they are good vehicle and if you ever want to convert it (V6 or V8) you have much more room under the hood, Turbo kits will cost money and wont have the reliability of a larger V6 or V8 engine. If you convert it right, it will be pretty bulletproof. But i fully understand your desire to keep it as is...converting it is like getting a face tattoo, you gotta be fully committed. Regards, |
