Hopeful future V8 Miata owner
Hi guys, my name is Ryan. A little about me... I'm from Fort Worth,Tx area. I'm in the Navy, currently stationed at NAS Corpus Christi, going through flight school. I've owned a Miata in the past, and am hoping to buy one with a V8 or have one built. As fun and as nice as it would be to say that I built it myself, I don't have the knowledge right now to do so, and I just don't have the time needed to build one if I had the knowledge either. I look forward to learning from all of you guys, and getting my own little monster!

Flight school? LOL you need to connect with gunpilot. He is also a military pilot just up the road from you and has 2 V8 Miatas.
Feel free to post all the cool aircraft photos you want and welcome to V8net, glad you are here!

Congrats on going to flight school. My son got USAF wings last week at Sheppard AFB. He is fighter pilot qualified so of course they gave him a C-130. You are not going to have time to fool with any of this while in school. LOL. Good luck!

Welcome. I'm in Dallas. I will be building my own using the old Ford 5.0 and Martin's kit. I have the Miata, and my Mustang donor. I'm currently disassembling the Mustang. I will have it parted and the carcass gone in by the middle of March. Then I'm going to refurbish the engine and transmission and find the rear end I want to use. Then I will be buying the kit and putting it all together. The goal is to be driving it for the 2017 Hot Rod power tour with my son who will be 18 then. He is helping with the project when he's not busy with school or friends.

Congrats on your son getting his wings! I just finished primary and was selected to fly P-8s. I will be getting my wings in about 6 months. Yea, you're right. I don't have time to tinker around on a miata trying to build my own. I'm hoping to buy one from someone on here when they decide that it's time to move on, and i'm also considering having one built.... Hard to justify giving 50k to FM to build one when I can buy a near new GT500 for that.

hello ryan nice to meet you I live in Houston and also lived in corpus a few years still travel back and forth from time to time with my fiancé(she owns a childrens dance company in corpus and Houston) we need to get together one day when my car is finished so you can go for a ride! I rode in one local that was built by flyin Miata (Itty bitty is the cars name) and I was hooked.. I went home and started ordering parts a week later lol.
Last I saw both cars were sold guess his wife needing a pool was more important than fun cars! gunpilot is unaware but im silently prepping to destroy his texas mile run of 176.6 mph lol. my only goal is to beat that speed!

How about mine for around $20K? It has AC (apparently something needed in Texas from what I've been told).
BTW, the cutouts are out in the track video above. It's much quieter on the street (Borla).

Still looking for a miata if any of you guys are thinking about selling yours or know someone who is. Looking for a NB making 400+ hp, preferably an LS3.

Well after months of keeping an eye out for a v8 miata, I finally picked one up from another member (BrendaBrown) earlier this month! It's a 90 5.0 with 300whp. I plan to use it primarily for autocross and the spirited drives around town.
My current plan for future modifications are to first work out any issues I come across. So far, I replaced the clutch slave cylinder, bought a new battery, and treated some surface rust in the trunk with POR-15. Next, I want to investigate the brakes as they do not seem as strong as I would suspect for being Wilwood brakes. Also, I want to look into seeing if there is anything to be done about increasing the ground clearance with the exhaust.
I have some frog arms, frame rails, and door rails on the way.... Others to come soon
I'm happy to be officially apart of the community and look forward to learning more from you guys!

Congratulations! Wow, from the 2 pics, she looks very clean and tidy. Start another thread in the Henry Ford section and keep posting up with your updates and perceptions. I'm glad you hung in there with us and found a V8 M to your liking.
