Hello. Anyone in Kansas / Oklahoma?

Hello to all. I would love to convert my '99 one day, but I'm starting the research.

Is there anyone in Kansas or Oklahoma that would be willing to show me your car? I would love to take a look and ask some questions.

Thanks

Hey welcome to the fun! I'm going to have mine in Omaha a couple days before Christmas if that helps. There is also one in Dallas that for the price of a couple beers would get you a good look. And I guarantee you a ride with Gator would change your life forever! ;)

Have you seen the post on the Mitty gathering? That would be a gold mine for you!

Even if you are not up to a road trip you have come to the right place for sure. Most questions can be answered here by searching but if you have something specific to your car or skills post it up and we'll do the best we can. The FAQs are new and not super complete yet but a great place to start. Also check out the build threads they are super helpful. Gabes video thread is excellent and there are several cars in process now that are great builds. If you run out of everything else to numb your mind you can check out my blog HERE. The video at the top is all you really need to scare you off!
I'd love to hear more about your car and plans. Welcome to http://i61.tinypic.com/2lufdi1.jpg!

My buddy has a ranch just over the KS/OK border (in KS). I may head up there during the holidays to get my trigger on. If the weather is nice I could drive the car. Otherwise it's not hard to get me into upper AR for some street burning. ..mine is an LS build... You didn't mention which clan you plan to join.

Thanks for the welcome.

Jim, I've seen a video by you on YouTube
& read your blog already. They were very inspiring. In fact, I subscribed to your channel. Interestingly, I am also a gigging musician & also play in church.

Yes, Gatorbait, if you do come to northern OK, please let me know. I'm in Winfield, about 30 miles north of Ponca City OK. As for builds, I like the sound of a 5.0, as well as the lesser cost. I also understand that it's slightly less complicated. However I have a hard time passing on the power that the LS brings to the equation.

The dark side of the force is hard to resist. :smokin:

Ha a kindred spirit! Outstanding! If the Navy won't let my son have leave for mitty I'll swing by and pick you up!

That blog really turned out to have a life of it's own. I did it just to update my Dad, brother, son and friend with out telling the same story 4 times a week. I never in a million years dreamed it have 40,000 page views and it still averages 50 hits a day! Same with that video. I did that to send my son at Christmas and if I had known it was going have so many views I would have never put the selfies in it or close ups of the welds in it. But what's even more amazing is how God has used that blog. I've had several guys tell me they didn't think churchy people would have a car like this. I've had some great conversations with guys all around the world about Christ and it's really gratifying to see such a frivolous, ridiculous car used for something meaningful.

Anyway back to the subject at hand. Wait which side is the dark side? I'm with you on the ease and sound of a Ford and that's what I set out to build when I started. I was very nervous about the build and thought it was way over my head and everything about building a Ford just looked better. The kit is much more complete, there is no cutting or welding, no computer to tune, the manual better and on and on it goes. Problem is I couldn't get my Camaro sold so... And truth to be told it was the best thing that ever happened to me. God at work again? I did things to that car I never dreamed I could do and I learned so much more doing the GM than I would have with a Ford. Now I want to try a build from scratch with no kit! Something like an old Sunbeam or Triumph. Anyway my point to all this is don't be afraid of the LS being more complicated. The outcome is so worth the effort and it's really not much harder. And it's easy to build one just as cheap as a Ford if you make a few parts or use the iron version of the LS.

Well I need to quit babbling. Can you tell I've been up since 3am and am sick? Well not too sick to work on the car though I just got done painting my sub cab! I'm really glad you are here Brad!

Glad to finally get a chance to talk with you, Jim. It's great how your blog is able to shed a new light on 'churchy' people! I would like to do the same, but pray that I won't lose my witness by my inability to control my right foot. :3gears: But if I am unsuccessful, perhaps I can start a prison ministry!

LOL! And now you know why there are no Christian bumper stickers on the back of my car! Instead I make them small and put them in places they are harder to see when I fall off the wagon sort of speak...

One morning last summer I was rolling down the road and I saw my best friend in front of me so I rolled up on him about 70 planning to pass him. I was probably a dozen car lengths away and all the sudden I could smell a rav 4 at full throttle and he was pulling away. Don't know why it is boys are wired this way... By the time I caught up and blew by him we were both over 100. I shut down at 135 and his speedo was buried. Not a mile after we were back to the speed limit a state trooper passed from the opposite direction.
So when we got to church I asked my church elder buddy what he thought would have happened if that trooper had come by 1 minute sooner... Yeah he doesn't have any Christian bumper stickers either!
