Well some of you may know me from my 2jz swapped miata. I have blown up the last 2jz motor for me. All my freinds have v8 cars and run ls motors. I am semi familiar with the ls and am learning fast. I am very familiar with swapping miatas and am looking forward to this swap mostly because it is easy with being able to buy a subframe and trans mount. My car already has a fuel system some suspension all the bushings engine compartment stripped of basically everything it doesnt need and the car is just begging to have 500whp again. My plan is to build a junkyard beater of sorts. I will list the parts I have found for free or cheap and see what you all think. Also I am running an rx7 TurboII rear diff witch held up fine on the 2jz so I will rock it until it blows on this setup then most likely go solid rear axle. We have an old 9" sitting in the shop just waiting to be cut down and stuffed into a miata lol.

100k 5.3L good running long block iron- $400 locally

Build forward manual valve body th350
with 3600stall conveter and quarterstick shifter - $500 from a buddy

Picked up a set of 241 stock heads - $100

ls6 oil pump 5 wire stand alone harness and ecu - $350

ls2 intake manifold, comp stage 2 6.0l blower cam
comp dual valve springs - free from a freind

I still have some parts I need to get. I am looking to pick up a sludged 5.3l engine thats complete will accesories and sensors and all from a local guy for $150 and will need to have a new driveshaft made.I plan to hit the car with a wet shot of nitrous anywhere from 100-200 shot depending on what logs say and how it reacts. I have to decide if I will go full direct port or just do a throttle body plate kit. I think for my needs the throttle plate kit will work I just like direct port better.

Here are some pics of the car with the 2jz before I liked the 2j but its time for some v8 awesome.

Man you have good friends! Welcome to the site. I dare say yours will be one of the more interesting builds we have here. Looking forward to it!

I juste change my RX7 Trubo 2 diff for a ford 8.8, I never add any problem with my Mazda diff, the problem was the gear 3.76 was too fast for me. Now run 2.73 and it's much better with my T5.

Why you don't run a intercooler on your 2jz?

2jzmiata 03-03-2016 11:10 AM

You had a turboII in a 3.76? I am gonna send you a pm about it.

I ran no intercooler because I was spraying lots an lots of methanol into the intake. It works very very well you can run high boost on pump gas with enough methanol and it works great and drops iat's like a champ. I could have run an intercooler but this was the route I choose and it worked great.

I will be starting a build thread very soon I spent the last few months getting all the engine parts I wanted with the final one being an ls1 shortblock I picked up the other day for $300 ballin on a budget. So my build will the an ls1 nitrous and th350. Should be a lot of fun.

3.76 can be get when you mix Auto and manual differential part.

Don't remember witch one you need but you will find it on mazda forum.
