just stoppin' in here to say hello. I think I'm going to build an LS2/T56 powered Miata this winter. I've been sitting on a 34K mile LS2/T56 that I bought 5 or 6 years ago to swap into another car, but I eventually ran out of time, space and desire to do the swap and I ended up selling the car I was going to put it into last November. I put the engine and trans up on Craigslist but I'm currently getting tire kickers and low ballers, so that's not going anywhere right now.

The last thing I need is another project since I'm currently restoring an LS1/4L60E swapped '52 Cadillac and I'm planning on doing a 6.2L LSX Twin Turbo swap on my '93 Typhoon once my new garage is finished, so hopefully this swap won't take up too much time or resources.

I know fast and cheap don't usually go hand and hand, but I plan on building all the mounts and braces myself. I've researched all the kits that are currently out there and not really crazy over any of them after factoring in the cost and my goals, but we'll see how it goes, that plan may change.

As for the Miata, my friends wife has two of them. One that she was hit in years back and the one she actually drives now. The wrecked one really isn't that bad, needs a fender and possibly some bumper work, I think the suspension is ok but I can't see repairing it being a huge deal. She thinks its a 1995, I hope it is so inspection in theory should be easier to deal with, if it's a '96 I'm not sure what I'll end up doing.

Going to go back to reading information in other parts of the forum, hopefully I'll have a build thread to post to in the coming months. :thumbsup:

Welcome to the forum! The LS2 Miata will smoke the Typhoon in every direction so I say I vote to skip the Typhoon and go for the Miata!

I don't think so :laugh: Even if I was able to get traction with an LS2 Miata, based on HP and Weight, I'm looking at high 10's in the 1/4, mid 10's at best. My Typhoon will be capable of 9's on pump gas when I'm done with it :thumbsup: It might be able to take it in the twisties but there aren't any roads like that around here and the only track in the state which has a road course is an hour away, so its not a huge factor for me.

An hour away what a treat! I drive 3 MAM, 4 to Donnybrook and 6 to Road America. All are well worth the trip to humble the guys with big buck cars that don't know how to drive.

Yeah the Typhoon will out run the Miata.... till the first corner when the Miata blows it off the track!

Completely different vehicles for completely different purposes. There are Syclones and Typhoons that are built for road racing, but they really don't interest me too much. Auto X is becoming increasingly popular but I don't do much of that either.

I'm not going to build a Miata for drag racing either, it's really just going to be a toy. If I enjoy the finished product I might keep it, if I find its a little too small for me or I just doesn't work for me, then maybe I'll sell it, only time will tell. Either way I'm sure I'll enjoy building it and hope to share and gain a lot of knowledge from this site.
