Everything is up in the air

My name is Tim and I am an addict. No seriously I am. I enjoy going fast (on a track) so I had my Evo X turned into a 500WHP AWD love affair.
I had a 90 Miata previously and when I heard my old boss mention he was getting another car to DD, I jumped at his nearly mint 94M. Well I am a private contractor in Afghanistan. I have been here since Oct 09 so I dont get to drive my cars much and is why I have stuff done for me so I can enjoy it when I get home.

I have sat here and put together an N/A plan, an S/C plan, a Turbo plan but I have so far deleted them all and am now really wanting to do a V8 swap. I would love to do this myself (plenty of wrenching - A&P mechanic) but looking at the LSx conversion, it seems a lil daunting. Im getting a lil more discouraged every thread I read.

I know there are crate motors, used motors and a million other options. What I am looking for is information on the closest to complete kit, the best install options (engine, harness, whatever) and a lil idea of what to expect.

Im looking forward to getting home (Feb 2011) so I can knock this out...

If you want to have one done for you Flyin' Miata does a pretty good job with the LSx stuff. If you want a Ford done for you I'll sell you mine :)

Welcome!

$28K:

Note that the intake plate says "5.0" but it's really a 331 with all forged internals (5.4 liters). It's pretty fun passing Corvettes on the track with it. :)

Jason, keep that car just as it is. The last picture is something like you'd see on a dealers brochure :)

If it stays with me over the next year the only things I'm working on are internal improvements. Fuel lines are getting rerouted and brakes are getting upgraded regardless of what happens as the parts are already purchased and waiting to go in. The MegaSquirt may happen later in the summer depending one whether I get accepted into a grad program I'm applying for and what the workload may be from it. Anything that changes the appearance of the car (flares, fastback hardtop) will not be happening until a little ways down the road, maybe even two or three years from now depending again on how that grad program goes.

Thanks, everyone always complements me on it's appearance.
