Continuing Race Car Build

Hey all,

Just thought I'd pop in and say hello.

A few years ago I bought a 5.0 Swapped Miata from a guy over on miata.net. It was a beautiful 5.0 conversion. I didn't really do a lot with the car based on everything else going on in life. Then back in April 2016 I toasted the engine in my Spec Miata (silly mistake with failing to check where the previous owner had plumbed in the coolant temp sensor - funnily enough air doesn't read the same!).

I didn't want to build another 1.6 (due to the expensive head work to make it competitive) so embarked down the LS route! It's been a fantastic journey so far. The build has been paused a couple of times. The first time was due to a legal battle over the original donor car. The second time was because the wife wanted a kitchen (that took a year and I swear it was more work than the car!).

The summary of the conversion is:
V8R Subframe, subframe connectors and trans braces - all modified
LS3 Longtube headers - modified starter to fit
6.2L LS3 (block was from an L92 - completely rebuild)
TR6060 Transmission
Ford 8.8 Differential (from an Explorer)
Driveshaft Shop 600HP axles, driveshaft and hubs
That's about it for the main parts, there's a million other parts that we've done! The motor is stock (I'm going to be struggling to stay in my class as it is).

Including today I have 26 days left until my first race so we're on the final stretch!

I'm going to try and include some pictures of the build so far incase anyone is interested.

Cheers,

Adam

Getting started

Looks like its gonna be fun. I just started with a build. It will be my first V8 conversion on a NA. I'm in the gathering parts stage. I'm going with a 5.3 swap and T56. I haven't decided on the rear but the 8.8 is most likely the route. Keep posting pics. It helps
