So it kind of depends on your personal philosophy. One way to look at it would be: put the motor in, get the car debugged and reliably drivable, then build/buy your real motor of choice and swap them on a weekend. With the lift and a suitable rollaround table, you can drop the engine/trans in just a few hours. Most all of the hard parts that you will need to buy or build for the initial install will transfer over to the new motor. I did this a few years ago with a 1993 Tbird rated at 220 hp from the factory, with 173000 miles, thinking it would last long enough to get it sorted out, then it would die and I would swap it for a 347. It's still running, just won't die. It's not an LS whatever, but I really like the sound, and I've got the 347 parts slowly coming together. Mike |
