Can I add another WOW! ?? Or, have we used up our allotment already with everyone's similar, initial response? Great build overview, and like the rest of this forum's members -- I am glad you have taken the time to share. Otherwise, I would have missed this soon to be bad @ss, wide body V8Roadster!! I, too, enjoyed Bill's service at BP for my harness work as he turned the GTO pile of wires into a clean stand-alone for me.

Purple powdercoat must look great in person, too.

Do you have plans for controlling heat behind firewall and under floor?

Please keep posting up!!!

Hey!! We made it to page 2. Awesome first page. Mind blowing in some ways.

Thanks means a lot coming from you your build is one that I highly admire as we use the same engine combo and I actually found out about bp automotive through your build thread.. I just ordered their diy standalone harness kit which includes relay for fans injectors and fuel pump. Only thing Mazda power is starter relay and Is his fuel pump relay and wiring up to par or will I have issue as mentioned by some?

The plan for heat has not been done as I plan on pulling back apart after a few hundred miles and change some things.. Mainly add a full rollcage as Texas mile is in her future and for more safety since carbon doors weigh nothing.. So since I'm plan to cage it I didn't want to spray any lizard skin heat control and then have to grind and remove it.. When the cage goes in I hope to get body completely sandblasted and body work finished and car fully painted and lizard skin sprayed inside and out.

Ya know, I read the comments about fuel pump wiring issues the guys mentioned. And I tried thinking back to how I wired mine, and I'm not absolutely sure about what I did. I think I have factory Mazda wires at the pump, but not certain where they are connected to the Delphi relays and such from BP Automotive. Regardless, I have not had the issues others describe. I did replace the Mazda female connector at fuel pump early on, but that was to correct an issue I created.

Your Lizard Skin strategy makes sense, and you'll have a good before and after comparison to share with us when the day comes.

Your project is going to be so nice. Have fun along the way! I just had to crank up and drive my car this evening after seeing your engine bay pics a few times. I'm inspired!

Sorry I did not reply sooner. The relay uses the computer fuel pump output to energize the fuel pump relay. A wire is run directly from computer fuel output signal to the fuel relay in trunk to run the fuel pump off the computer. The power for the relay is a direct run of heavy gauge wire from battery to fuel pump relay in trunk. A large gauge wire runs from the relay output to the fuel pump. At the fuel pump the original wire on the tank for the fuel pump is cut and spliced to the larger wire from the relay to the fuel pump. I also used a ground wire from the relay to a good ground location. You are right in that the computer output must be used to operate the fuel pump.

I really need to sit down and go through my manual I case I decide to do another car..

So my gto water pump didn't clear the radio so I switched to the corvette accessories and wanted to save some money so I had 3/4" removed from the gto bracket now lines up great and save money on alternator and bracket. Now just need new crank pulley and tensioner..

Also had my dad come give me a hand to take my
Car back to my house from my friends..

And a buddy stopped by to see car and took this awesome pic

Been a few weeks since an update. Had to save some
Funds. Final tidbits are killer and this is just stage 1.

245/40 rc-1 and vr-1 and 15x10 6ul

My tensioner pulley came in

Went to her first car meet. A friend was hosting a Miata parts swap meet and asked if I would bring her.

This is how I mounted my carbon Miata taillight panel. The power and versatility of riv nuts cleanly bolt anything together..

When you wired up your BP Automotive harness, how did you wire in the clutch switch and your neutral safety wires?

To be honest when I was doing the Mazda harness the clutch switch got cut out and removed It I believe it was a brown wire and something and I basically wired it up without the switch and I didn't wire the neutral safety wires either I don't think. And no reverse lockout you have to manual override the lockout spring which takes quite a bit of force so I prefer that route very hard to accidental reverse.

I am with you on the reverse lockout over-ride. I have read on several occasions where modifying the spring produced an explosive result. Its not that big a deal to shift into reverse without the modification. With a little practice you develop a feel for shifting into reverse even with the spring pressure unreleased electronically.

Your making good progress. I'm real interested in how that brake master cylinder works out. Is that the Fab 9 kit? I'm curious how that works. Everything I have read says the stock location pedal ratio is way off and makes the brakes not work as well.

yes it is the fab 9 kit yes it requires more force. im debating on changing the pedal ratio just haven't gotten to sit down and really think about redrilling the pedal.

first the wilwoods and high performance pads will drive you up the wall with the high pitch squeal! like seriously want to remove them for street use.. will try different pads first.

small update I will be back with pictures very soon. took the car to Hot Rod Power Tour and a small local event. not sure how many miles but iv put around 4.5 hrs on the car. I will say yes I do love it however I feel it needs another 100 or so HP..
with the current 380-400whp tune currently and 3.27 gears the 245 maxxis just hooks and goes. its very exciting however I expect more of the white knuckle and ooohhh crap factor so I think another 100-200hp and this car should be perfect!
