Heatz LS1 build
4 Attachment(s)
I am starting with a 91 hardtop. The car has 135k on it and unfortunately has some rust in the rockers. That will need to be fixed. The car has a couple other small rust sports that will also need to be touched up. But the underside of the car is very solid and clean.
Attachment 7755 Attachment 7756 At this point The car is being stripped and getting ready to modify the engine bay and trans tunnel. Attachment 7757 Attachment 7758 I managed to find a motor locally. It is from a 98 Camaro. The car put down 420rwhp on a dynojet on all motor. The Camaro has run traction limited 11.6 on all motor. ( this is all from the previous owner. I will wait to see what it actually puts down for myself.) I think this should do nicely for a miata Motor mods *under drive pulley *ls6 intake *!AIR *!EGR *smog delete *T.E.A stage II plus heads milled for 11:1 also bigger double springs *comp cam 275/275 222/222 .566/.566 112l/s 3714/3714 hr 112 *spec 3 clutch(low miles) *ported throttle body *42 lb injectors *ported oil pump I have the T56 and gertrag diff sitting and waiting for the V8 roadster parts to arrive. I plan to do all the wiring from the camaro and Miata harnesses. I think this will be one of my big challenges. |
Some wide body panels will take care of all that rust lol
All right! Your high HP LS should be over the top in the Miata. Thanks for starting your build thread here. I hope you'll keep,us posted throughout the build, and I know you're going to have a blast putting this together!
The wiring had me quite concerned as well, but I've sent my LS2 harness and PCM to BP Performance in KY for stand alone conversion with relays, fuses, etc. he's also going to reprogram the E40 PCM. Congrats on the white Miata. Your rust should be a pretty straightforward fix... |
Did anyone else have a problem getting the front sub frame out? I took out all 6 bolts and it will not drop. I have done everything but jump up and down on it.
Remove the other 2 bolts?
I will look angain but Ithought I got all the bolts. 2 by the shock tower and 1 in the very rear. I probably just missed the bolts somewhere then.
You'll get a chuckle when you find those hidden two near the rear. They're about 6 - 8" forward or the rear most bolts and up a little as well.
That was it. Two bolts left right behind the lower control arm. Funny how it drops right out once you remove all 8 bolts
And you probably thought I was being a smart a$$. LOL!! Glad you found them. Let the fun begin!!
