Congrats on the car and the soon to be new arrival!

Are you not going to do louvers or other vent on the holes in the hood? Or is that so you can check the oil without opening the hood?

Thank you!

I go back and forth on the hood vents. I actually did make some for it when I built the other hood, ended up just liking the holes so I didn't put them in. I wanted to get some R-theory vents for it but the vendor is no longer making them so bleh....I may end up getting something on there, but at this point its not my highest priority.

That's one BAD AZZ Miata! I do like it. There will be haters, but they will be few and so what.

Thanks, one of my favorite things to do at a show is to leave for a bit a come back and just listen to what others have to say about it, I don't hear hate very often. It actually got accepted recently to the Hotwheels legends tour in St. Louis. I think it will be a lot of fun to take it up there.

Had a great time at LS Fest East this past weekend, aside from traffic! The car always gathers a crowd, especially this year with the hood and whining supercharger.

Hard to believe it has been over a year since I have posted. Still running the car, still really enjoying it. Update worth item I have been on lately is I have purchased one of the new 275/35zr15 Nankangs to try and fit. I don't personally like the look of flares on a miata, so this is an attempt to cleanly pull the stock rear quarters enough to make these fit. First impression after getting the tire on my spare15x9 wheel is that it is going to happen.

More to come

Realized I haven't updated any news on my 275 tires on here. I posted pictures on the facebook V8 miata page but not here!

At this point I feel confident that at least this 275/35r15 will fit under modified stock NB fenders. I bought one tire and put it on a test wheel the same as mine. Ended up having to put a pretty hard roll on the rear fender lips but since I don't like flares I am happy to report they seem to fit.

Specs are 15x9 Konig Dial-ins, 35mm offset, Tires are Nankang AR-1's.

I completely understand that for the guys chasing seconds on the track that this setup isn't ideal, but for me just trying to make the most of the car I can on the street, this should be an improvement.

Well, for the second time since I have built the car I have had an issue that actually does take it down.....Was enjoying a spirited cruise yesterday to run a couple errands and heard a loud POP from the back. Car felt a little squirrelly in the back so I got out and looked for a while. All felt tight until I saw it.....it appears my subframe has cracked at the toe of the weld on the rear base plate I welded on. Honestly I'm not even upset, it will cost me a few more dollars, but this gives me a good reason to go ahead and install the LS7 clutch I have setting on my shelf. Last summer during auto cross I finally started smelling the OEM LS1 clutch a bit, still lots of power but the smell was distinct so I bought the new unit. I have been putting it off for weeks and weeks working on other things, so this will finally give me a reason to get at it!

Glad you found the bust without having something even worse happening.
Just part of the price of putting 500 hp into a chassis originally designed to take about 100 hp.
Break the weakest link, fix that then move on to break the next weakest link.

After 6 years and approximately 12k miles, my short truck starter decided it was done. It started showing issue earlier this year by hesitating for a split second when I turned the key. It has since gotten worse to the point it wasn't turning when warm, then now its not turning at all. I decided rather than try and fight with it, I would install one of the LS7 starters that are even shorter, with the new plug. New starter number is 12662757, and the new connector you need is 19300471. I got both from rockauto for $148 shipped.

On another note, I have enjoyed the heck out of this car for six years, but am considering more and more often about moving on. Only time will tell, as I do genuinely love this car, but do I keep it forever or do you occasionally do something else?

Taylor Ray broke his subframe in the same area as you did - how did you address the repair?

Replaced it, went to a V8R style mount, which honestly I'm not very impressed with. I had a clean straight subframe on hand for my use, and felt like I had to really force this new mount setup to fit. Honestly, I cannot believe no one has started offering a tube rear subframe like the fronts V8R has, if I have a problem again, I will be working on something like that.
