Thanks. Yes. For the first 6 months we did fabrication, mechanical stuff, and stripped the GTO at his shop. When that was done I brought it home for the electricals, smog, and such. It's been a group effort with Martin, myself and a several friends.

This was a fun little project... My NB2 only came with the dome light. That made seeing in the footwells difficult at night. To help with that I scavenged the trunk and glove box lights from the GTO. I dremeled out the little plastic bolt covers for the center console on the tunnel. The lights snap perfectly into them. We wired them to the dome light and boom. Let there be light...

Thanks! Flyin Miata isn't located in CA, so getting things CARB compliant beyond '95 would be logistically difficult for them. From a business point of view, the E-rod kit ('95 or older only) is probably the only route that makes financial sense for FM. It's much easier to CARB than anything else LS related. Getting a '96 or later model CARB legal would probably cost FM more to do than they could sell it for due to shop/research labor hours. Having said that, it's not impossible to do '96 or later, you just need to do your research, have a ton of patience, and dig in.

I think there is little reason to use the Ford 5.0 anymore. It might be easier to CARB sticker an older 5.0 in an '95 or older NA, or not. I don't know at this point because the rules keep changing, and not for the better. The LS is a much better platform.

I'll chime in here, happy to chat about the E-Rod swap in an NA, and I'll have the car at Miatas at Laguna Seca.

Zandr has the only CARB stickered LS that uses the E-rod. He's the man if you go that route, which is what I would recommend most people do. Going later than '95 is much harder and you don't gain much from a driving point of view.

I added air conditioning the weekend before Miata Reunion at Laguna Seca. Drove it 500 miles there through the LA fires. Tracked it all weekend. Then drove home 500 miles. Was SO happy to have ac. Cruise control is next!

I have not seen anything specific for adding it to an NA or NB and would like to know what it takes to do it yourself.

My car is a 2002 and I put a 2000 LS1, from Trans Am, in my car. The throttle is a throttle by cable and not a throttle by wire. My cruise control works fine with no additional modification. I used a Dakota Digital box for my speedometer and everything else work as normal.

As with everything in these cars, cruise control varies a lot. My car is DBW and everything is from an '06 GTO. I have everything hooked up for cruise: pedal switches, the GTO stalk, EBCM bypassed. But the GTO PCM wants input from the ABS for cruise to work, which I don't have. I found a guy who makes a bypass module specifically for the GTO. It wires into the PIM. It makes the PCM think that the ABS is working. In theory the cruise should work once I install that. We'll see. I'll report back in a couple of weeks when I have time to do it.

Cruise with DBC is much easier. In my case with DBW, the GTO compounds the problem. Dakota Digital makes cruise boxes for the LS2, but specifically not for the GTO. Not enough demand for them. So that route is a dead end.

I haven't returned to cruise, but it's still on the list. I did track down an issue with the PCM requiring ABS input for cruise. Because I don't have ABS, that's a problem and may be why CC hasn't worked yet. A friend connected me with a guy who makes a module specifically for the GTO to bypass ABS and anything else the PCM needs. Installing it is my next step.
