00 Ls build

The tear down has started.
I have collected most of the main parts. 97 Corvette ls1, Borg Warner t56 6speed Transmission, tube frame from v8r, Gm cts v rear end 3.73. Still need a radiator, rear end mount, and a couple more small things. But off to a good start, here is a pic of the shop with the miata engine and trany out.

Good luck! There's plenty of info around here if you ever need to search for something.
Are you planning on fabbing the diff mount or buying one? most of the fab stuff I've seen is for an 8.8 diff.

Man I love a white car! The only thing I am concerned with here is that you will not have enough space in that shop to get the job done!

Wow. Look at that garage. So jealous.

test fitting the ls1 and trany

https://www.instagram.com/p/BAht7Zgn...n-by=boileropp

So first test fit went well. i would highly recommend using a lift i cant imagine doing this project on jack stands and jacks. i havnt done much with the rear end yet. i think im going to wait tell i purchase the drive line and axles.

So i also have a question for everyone i have a ls1 out a 97 corvette, the alternator was on top driver side. which to install engine has to be removed and as long as i cut a notch for the belt i think it will fit just fine. has anyone else used this option?????

New headers and starter

https://www.instagram.com/p/BBLL2Imn...n-by=boileropp

So new headers from FM look awesome the driver side flange had a lil bit of a warp to them but I talk to guys a fm and they thats normal. guess ill just have to re-torque after a couple miles of running. I put a fiberglass heat rap on them as well hoping to reduce heat. also i have to use a smaller starter then the stock starter which fm had a gm part number but through gm it was like 230 bucks so i went done to the local battery starter shop that i use for the farm and they found me one out of a ls model truck for like a 120 bucks and fits very nice.

SupaDupaSteve Jan 31, 2016 07:54 AM

Good progress! I'm not sure I've seen anyone use the Corvette alternator location honestly. But If it fits why not, and you've already got all your corvette accessories so I say go for it. Have you figured out power steering?

stng_96 Feb 2, 2016 07:24 AM

I feel like everyone moves much faster on these builds then I do!! Nice progress!

boileropp Feb 17, 2016 11:13 AM

Yes on the power steering I bought the kit from v8r but the fitting for the pump didnt fit. it must be different from the ctsv pump i think thats the one they recommend. but i had the hose coming off the pump from the corvette so i went to a local hydraulic shop and had the AN fitting silver soldered onto the pump fitting looks good ill put a pic up next time i post pictures.

I've got the engine running

So I tried tried tried to get my Dbw system to work for me but it just did like something in the app system I replaced all sensors except the mod computer because that was $500 and a new wire harness for a dbc was only 700 so I choose to switch to a dbc throttle body all parts ended up around a $1000 to switch but victory is mine and the beast runs, bleed out the new wilwood dynapro brakes. Installed the exhaust system from fm, I made my own trany mount so I had to fabricate my own exhaust mount but luckily it all fit real well. My wiring harness I wen with was from affordable fuel injection Andy there did a really excellent job with my harness I had him build it so the main bulk of the wire would cross over the front of the engine so I didn't have to fight the fire wall clearance because there is very little room in-between the engine and firewall. I picked up my tires and wheels from a local shop turned out fitting excellent went with a 15x8 wheel the storm and 225/45r15 Toyo r1a tire supper sticky. I'm trailering it to a the alignment shop today so I let you guys know how it drives after that.

This may be the shortest build thread that has a completed car on the site!

Congrats on getting it together!

Ooh nice! I'd been seeing some lower values so it's nice to see one sell for 20+ that wasn't a FM build
