Will a LQ4 fit?
I want to know if you can put an LQ4 in a 1990 miata? Also if it is possible could you use a LSx kit?
|
Lq4 is just an iron block LS so I think its the same. dont quote me tho.
Then again..other than cost, why would you want to use an iron block version of the LS? :retard: |
Well the lq4 is only about 70lbs heavier than the ls1 and it's an iron block so it would be a lot stronger when wanting to put boost in the car the iron block would come in handy.
|
The LQ4 fits just as any LSX. The boost part is where you need to get creative. There are two turboed LSX cars with builds over at m.net conversion section. One with under the hood boost and another with the remote turbo system with the turbo back near the muffler section.

I looked up those LSx's on m.net and I would love to have a turbo set up, but it seems very complicated and time consuming I was thinking more along the lines of 150-200 shot.;)

The LQ4 and the LQ9 will fit very nicely as I put in a LY6 in mine and that is the same 6.0L block. The changes you have to make are in the intake manifold and front accessory drive setup and the oil pan. It just needs to be lower and shorter than the stock motor. Good Luck
