What's the best vendor for V8R parts?
 

I’ve been working with Jeremy at Flyin Miata on V8R pricing and options and it seems like most of the questions I ask he needs to check with V8R for the answer. So I’m wondering is there any advantage to working with Flyin Miata or Miata Roadster verses going direct to V8R?

I've always been very comfortable working with FM -- and I don't mind paying a little more when I know they seem to spend that little extra time and energy with R&D and a 1st class catalog that comes out about once or twice a year.

On my V8 project, I've ordered some stuff from FM such as radiator, clutch kit, fuel kit, etc. But, I also had questons for Steve at V8R and decided to purchase a lot of my kit components directly from him. It's the same prices as FM, and I know they all have to make certain margins on these well-engineered kits. So, if you want V8R stuff, pick who you're comfortable with.

V8R. I chose to buy direct.

I'd say go with V8R if you feel it’s more important to be in contact with the builders of the kit and Flyin' Miata if you feel it’s more important to be in contact with those who have built cars with kits.

Keep in mind that if you buy from V8R and have a question for Flyin' Miata you'd be taking their time without having spent anything with them. No that they would not help you, but they really wouldn't be obligated to do so. If you buy from Flyin' Miata you've spent money with both firms so they are both obligated to help if needed.

Just a though, I buy my stuff from a guy in San Marcos.

Oh yeah San Marcos I've been there many times. Great little river town in south TX. :-)

I'm still on the fence about the monster kit. I'll probably go with his rear end set up but I kind of like the idea of the engine being rearward a couple inches with the V8R kit. And given my track record with the welder what could possibly go wrong! LOL!

The setup you are going with is my exact setup (rearward V8R kit and Martin 7.5 kit with a Detroit TrueTrac)
