SBC info

I got this in a private message today and thought that others might benefit from the info. I have had the same questions asked a lot on m.net private messages.

The only part of my car that I used a kit on was the rear end from www.monstermiata.com

I have been to boss frogs shop and don't know why their subframe wouldn't work. Personally I would order it without motor mounts, and mount the engine myself. I got my T56 off an LS1 car and bought the adapter spacer from http://www.mcleodracing.com/

I'm using a carberator...will it clear the hood? I hope I'm not being a pain ut I've learned over the years that thereis no substitute for experience. I hope I can avoid unnecessiary waste of time, money and pain by benefiting from your experience. Thanks, Judge Tony

Yes the motor mounts are different. I don't know if the mounting position is the same. The further back you mount it the more hood clearence you will have. A freind of mine got his under a stock hood (cut out the hood webbing) by using ram horn manifolds and lowering his K frame 1". The height of the intake will make a big difference also. I made my own alternator brackets and mounted it on the drivers side down low. I used a gear reduction mini starter. Lets discuss this for everyone to see so I don't get so many repeat questions.;) Keep the questions coming and I'll do my best at answering them.

Here is a pic of his engine under a stock hood.

That thermostat housing is a must have, because the radiator sits lower than the thermostat. So you need a way to fill it and burp it.
