Preparing to start my v8 conversion few quick questions?
i plan on using an ls3 with the t56
1. what kits have been easiest to use? boss frog? flying miata? ext.? 2. what parts to i need to add to the boss frog kit? 3. where are you getting the ford 8.8 dif? 4. any and all pointers welcome |
Mike,
This is an older post but I'll answer and maybe it will be of some help. I used V8 roadsters kit for the install. V8R provided GREAT support and everything fit, FM offers the same parts. You will need to source several other major parts as well (radiator, fans, shroud, exhaust, hoses etc). Its a long list. On FM's site they have a list of parts that they will provide to complete your project. Buy them there or close to home what ever works for you. I used the CTS diff without issues, but I'm not a drag racer. I hear the CTS diff will not hold up to abuse as will as the Ford unit. I was more concerned with fit and ground clearence. The CTS diff gives more room for exhaust. I hope this helps. Tom |
Tom, what was your estimated build cost all in?
|
I used all new parts with the exception of the transmission ($1800.00 rebuilt) about $32,000.00. That includes the suspension upgrades (V8R arms, AFCO shocks and springs) FM BBK, sways, radiator. Moroso oil cooler and thermostat GM crate motor, accessory drive, electronics pacage including ECM.
