Does anyone have AC in their NA LS1? The car I got doesn't have it, and I want it. Will it fit? Also, should I use a miata or chevy compressor? Thanks!

 

I would suspect that the GM compressor would be the easiest to mount.

 

Did the car originally come with ac though? I used a Gm ctsv compressor and it works great.

 

It did, still has the inlet/exit plumbing in the firewall. Just not sure what I need to do to either fit the compressor in the engine bay and which one to get. Prolly just take it to a shop?

 

The chevy vette compressor won't fit with the factory mounting bracket. It doesn't even give enough room for the bolts to get in. I have found that the CTS bracket and compressor will work. Bracket #12578548 Compressor #89023451 hope this helps.

 

Thanks thats exactly what I need! Other than the compressor, the bracket, the refrigerant lines (which someone on here sells right?), and the correct size belt, what else do I need? I heard maybe a drier?

 

That's where I am at to. I just ordered my compressor and bracket with the bolts for it. Now I need to find a chrome dryer and get the line ect.

 

It's been over a year now, did you get your ac going? I got the ctsv compressor, bracket, and bolts. Now I'm ready to start pulling the trigger before it starts getting hot down here. Where did you get your lines and drier?

 

Mike don't you use the factory Miata drier and condenser?

I know the f body compressor will fit fine in the engine bay but that is as far as I have gotten. My plan is to use the Camaro compressor and lines from it, and the Miata dryer, condenser and everything else. I am hoping to just butt connect the GM lines to the Mazda lines but I am quite a ways from working it out and my guess is it won't be that easy. So I would love to know what you guys do to get AC in and LS - NA!

 

The local shop I use to get my AC lines done for Ford conversions could probably make up the lines anyone needs. Ford compressors fortunately use standard fittings which makes making a completely new line easy (the Mazda side are also standard Metric fittings). The GM pump most likely has special non-standard attachments which would require cutting them off or cutting the lines off and splicing. If anyone does not have a local shop that can do this I'd be happy to try to help out, although it will have to wait until the summer (very little time until the end of June).

I mocked-up my A/C hoses with heater hoses from the old fittings from Ford & Mazda mounted in their designated locations. After I got the routing & length figured out, I took my "templets" to my friend who replicated them for free. Any A/C specialty shop or NAPA should be able to help. Since you are in the Atlanta area, Marietta Radiator would be the place to go.
