Motor mounts for V8R subframe

So, in attempt to mount up the subframe to test the Holley oil pan(see oil pan thread), I realized that I need motor mounts. Long story short - I ordered a bare subframe and it didn't come with mounts.

Does anybody with the V8R kit feel the need or wish they had upgraded the motor mounts for any reason? If not, can I get away with purchasing an off the shelf mount kit for the V8R subframe?

TIA,

I talked to these guys yesterday. It's $100 more for their motor mounts, your best bet is probably to order theirs, unless you want a solid steel mount (probably alot of vibration).

I'm using the flyin Miata urethane ones and have no complaints at all with them. 15K miles and lots of hard launches and I looked them over this spring when I put my splitter on and they look great.

Thanks Jim. I just got off of the phone with V8R and ordered a set of theirs for $100.

PS-Great service from V8R. They are awesome people.

+1! I should have clarified if you don't know I said Flyin Miata but it's the same V8R parts you just ordered.

Did you order heat shields too or are you going to make them? They are a must or your mounts turn to gooo.

Lol...Thanks for the heads up Jim. I guess I haven't thought that far ahead. I will keep that in mind. It's kind of one thing after the other right now:beer:

I ended up calling them and ordering motor mount heat shields with my kit too.

Heat shielding is a smart move throughout the engine bay. This heat shielding is extremely important with the starter, spark plug wires, and any other wiring that is located near the headers.

+1! The brake and clutch lines on the drivers side and fuel and wiring on the pass run way too close for comfort to the headers.

The handy part about parting out a car for a build is you have tons of heat shield material. :)
