LS 1 Accessory Drive
I have Boss Frog conversion kit. They are recommending using a Corvette water pump and balancer. All the accessories I have are for a Camaro.
If I use the Corvette water pump and balancer the accessories won,t line up. Is there any clearance problems using the Camaro water pump and balancer? Scott |
na or nb?
In any case, the corvette crank pulley and cts-v accessories will get you some much needed space up front. you can still use your camaro water pump. |

It is a NA. What will interfere using the Camaro accessory drive.

: observing: Were the water pumps really that different?
I have a c5 damper if you happen to go that route. |
the corvette or cts-v balancer buys you a lot of space for the front sway bar. the non-setback boss frog setup eats a lot of space at the front of the engine bay. the corvette alternator setup may work, bt i have never tried it for clearance. the cts-v alternator setup is in the same location as the camaro one, just pushed back further (to line up with the corvette balancer).
LS1/6 water pumps are all the same with regards to the pulley, they all have the double wide pulley that accomodates the set back corvette belt arrangement or the more forward camaro arrangement. there isnt really a need for the low profile LS2 style water pump (which only works with the corvette balancer, btw). |

I would like to retain the power steering. Can I use the GM steering pump?
Would the CTS-V brackets work? Scott |
yes.
if you use the cts-v alternator setup, you'll need to use the cts-v power steering setup as well. lines from the GM power steering pump to the miata steering rack are available as well. |

Thanks for the info. I will be looking for some cts-v brackets or try to modify the F-body brackets I have.
Scott |
i doubt you'll have too much luck modifying the F body stuff. the cts-v alternator bolts directly to the block at the rear where the f-body has a small bracket. the corvette/cts-v balancer pushes the a/c belt grooves right up against the timing cover.

move the swaybar
I know this post is old but for anybody reading it for info....I just made some brackets out of angle iron and lowered the attachment of the swaybar to the frame on my NB. It handles just fine and I used all of the fbody brackets/accessories.

Good to know.
Do you happen to have any pictures of the modification? |
yes see post number 25 on my build thread...
