Gee didn't Ford figure that out about 40 years ago?

Did they? The idea of 9k+ rpm and 900 NA *reliable* HP got me all tingly. :skid:

Well OK I think the brits or germans figured it out in the 20s or something but I was thinking about the 427 SOHC engines from the late 60s.

No question that is a sweet engine. Gotta wonder why GM didn't think of that! On the other hand a 500 hp boss 302 crate engine is only 10 grand so why reinvent the wheel anyway...

cuz I like bowties! I'm currently reading up on vortech SC's though. Thinking I could lose the power steering pump and put the SC in it's place. ...My mod A.D.D. stays busy! Luckily it mostly only cost me research time at this point. Meanwhile the car goes to the body and paint guy tomorrow for final fitment of the new nose. Looking forward to the nose job. Hope the result is as I imagined in my head. :x:

Ford built a 4cam Indycar V8 based loosely on the 289 back in the 60's. There may have been some Cosworth influence. A few years ago, I bought some tools from a shop in St. Pete that had 5 or 6 of the complete motors on a rack, plus cabinets full of spares and a couple of genuine Indycar chassis in process of being restored. Pretty amazing, just a hole in the wall shop with all that stuff going on.

Those are the places that make you want to bring over a case of beer on a Friday evening just for being allowed to hang out.
