DBW vs cable throttle body
Hello all,
Since my turbo BP needs a rebuild again im thinking about going LS1 V8. Found a nice kit wich sells a complete kit including gearbox and ECU and wiring loom. But they sell both cable driven throttle bodie and Drive by wire throttle bodies engines. I believe the cable driven one is found in a Camaro wich has about 315hp and the DBW is from the corvette and has about 350hp? Any downsides going DBW. Obviously need a corvette pedal and wiring. Also cruisecontrol is easy to wire up from what i found so far. What is your preferred engine? greetings, Vincent |
The GM DBW OEM setup gets cruise control commands from the BCM which is not included with your kit. Trying to add a BCM adds all kinds of problems with anti theft systems, etc. However, there is an aftermarket substitute. I needed one to activate the shift paddles for my 6L50 transmission. Got the ABS and cruise control as a side benefit. Company is first rate and I highly recommend them.

I know this is an old post but there is always the option of using the stock Miata cruise control system. Just need to attach a second throttle cable to the DBC throttle body. Also need to figure out a speed input if you are not using the factory speedometer. Stock instrument cluster uses a reed switch to send a 4 pulse/revolution signal to the Cruise Control Module.
